BEGINNING BAND:
Fundamentals of performance in the wind and percussion instruments is the focus of daily instruction in the beginning band. Our goals include development of ear training, listening skills, playing skills (both individual and ensemble), tone production, technical mastery of the instrument, and musicianship. The band performs concerts, and the students participate in the Eanes Solo and Ensemble Festival. Students also have the option of rehearsing and performing for a special Spring band activity. Prior to each concert, the full Beginning Band holds one rehearsal after school from 4:00-5:00 pm.
7th & 8th GRADE BANDS:
Concert Band mostly 7th grade players
Symphonic Band combination of 7th & 8th grade players
Wind Ensemble mostly 8th grade players
Prerequisite: Director's approval
Participation expectations and performance quality expectations for the literature of each band are the same. All 7/8th grade band students participate in a weekly section rehearsal, which provides individual attention and evaluation. Students also participate in pep rallies, some football games, concerts, the Eanes Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival, and UIL contest. Attendance is required for all rehearsals and performances. District and Region Band auditions are encouraged, but not required, for Concert Band & Symphonic Band members. All Wind Ensemble students are expected to participate in the District Band Auditions.
Students continue to develop ear training, listening skills, playing skills (both individual and ensemble), tone production, technical mastery of the instrument, and musicianship appropriate to their level of performance.
